Judy Perez

Judy Perez was born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents from Colima and Jalisco. She grew up in Highland Park and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in Lincoln Heights. She later studied at UCLA and Loyola Law School. During her education, she completed internships at El Rescate, MALDEF, and with Judge Teresa Sanchez-Gordon at the Los Angeles County Superior Court.

After graduating from Loyola Law School in 2002, Ms. Perez began her career in private practice as an associate attorney at Moreno, Becerra, Guerrero & Casillas, handling civil rights and personal injury cases. In 2006, she founded the Judy Perez Law Offices, representing injured individuals. Since 2012, she has worked alongside her partner, Frank Perez, where she currently represents plaintiffs in personal injury cases.

Throughout her career, Ms. Perez has been deeply involved with the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA), serving in various roles on its Board of Directors, culminating as President in 2010. She has also been a member of the Board of Directors and President of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association. Additionally, she has participated in multiple oral litigation training programs in Mexico, sponsored by MABA and the Supreme Courts of Jalisco, Colima, and Yucatán.

Ms. Perez has been recognized with the Community Hispanic Woman of the Year award from the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF), as well as the MABA Spirit Award. More recently, she received the Mother Pia Backes Award from Sacred Heart of Jesus. She finds great fulfillment not only in representing her clients but also in opening doors for the Latino community, especially young Latina women who share her story.
